94.7 The Pulse will be holding its Geelong Council Election Candidates Forums via Zoom in the first week of October and broadcasting the week-long event in a Q&A style live-to-air as well as live streaming online.
Beginning Monday October 5th, candidates from all Geelong electorate wards will be answering questions pre-submitted by the public in a digital democracy forum designed to work around the current COVID-19 restrictions. A total of nine forums will be run over five days – one for each of the council wards, and will be broadcast live on 94.7 The Pulse, and live-streamed via The Pulse’s Facebook page.
94.7 The Pulse has a proud history of providing the Geelong community an opportunity to put forward their pressing questions to electorate candidates at a Federal, State, and Council level, and actively engage in the democratic process to cast an informed vote.
Pulse spokesperson, Sam Balazs, said a pandemic wasn’t going to stop them from holding the event.
“These forums are such an important part of the democratic process at a grassroots level. People have a right to ask questions and keep candidates accountable – that’s what these forums are about, and why they must happen.”
Geelong community members are encouraged to submit questions online at https://947thepulse.com/councilelectionsforum/ before Monday 5/10/2020.
