Pakofesta
2024
Geelong celebrated cultural diversity with music, colour, food, and movement down at Pako Festa, on Saturday, February 24th.
Pako Festa is the largest celebration of cultural diversity in Australia and is highly anticipated by many each year.
The festival takes place on Pakington Street in West Geelong. It showcases captivating live performances from all over the world.
Thousands of people from Geelong and the surrounding descend on Pako from 11am.
A wide variety of stalls lined the streets on the day, offering cuisines to let your taste buds explore different cultures.
Attendees were lined up at each stall, browsing through creations from local artisans, waiting to take home a piece of every culture.
The team from 94.7 The Pulse were in attendance this year. We were beyond excited to host a 6-hour live broadcast right in the middle of all of the action.
We kicked off the broadcast with the star of the show; the parade, featuring colourful floats, costumes, and dancing. The audience was captivated by the exciting performances, each representing cultures from all over the world.
94.7 The Pulse’s own Loretta (Loretta’s Front Page) and Alex (Alex in the Morning) had the pleasure of commentating the parade live. Our listeners were able to feel immersed in the action no matter where they were tuning in from!
We were keen to hear from members of our community about their involvement in Pako Festa and the significance of diverse culture in our community.
Pako Festa was a great way to experience and celebrate our beautiful, multicultural community.
It was a great opportunity to connect with new members of the Geelong community as well as chat to some old friends. It’s an event that kept the audience buzzing from excitement all the way through.

Our artists:
Maddie Jackway marries introspective folk storytelling with catchy pop hooks and soulful vocals to create a union that is uniquely hers. With melodies and vocals reminiscent of Meg Mac, Yebba, Adele, Jackway creates music for overthinkers and deep-feeling individuals with an authenticity and earnestness that is hard to ignore. Jackway’s vocal mastery captivates audiences in both recordings and live performances, drawing them into her world as she explores the multi-faceted human condition, yet leaving enough for the listener to ponder on.
Jared Baily embarked on his musical journey during high school, initially honing his skills by mastering punk rock guitar riffs and capturing everyday observations in his notebook. The trajectory of his artistry took a poignant turn in 2009 with the passing of his beloved mother, a pivotal moment that transformed his songwriting into a deeply introspective exploration of grief and existential questioning. Over the years, Jared’s compositions have evolved into heartfelt and evocative pieces, resonating with listeners through lyrics that vividly evoke raw emotion. Despite sharing his music only with close friends until recently, Jared has emerged as a late bloomer in the music scene, discovering the profound satisfaction of connecting with audiences who find solace in his songs, echoing the very emotions he pours into his music.
Andrea Robertson has a voice like honey and a knack for making music that gets into your system feeling immediately like an old friend. Through a tasty fusion of blues, roots, folk, rock, alt-country and a whole lot of soul, Robertson brings you home with her, to the waves crashing on her favourite beach, to enjoying a cup of tea in her sun-soaked backyard, to the beloved dogs lying at her feet.
2024 has ushered in the physical release of ‘Seasons’ for Robertson; a stunning, year-long, slow-release musical journey. Beginning in Autumn 2023 and coming to fruition in Summer of the same year, Andrea gifted us three new songs released with each change of seasons throughout 2023.
