Trish and Sam’s friendship began with learning guitar together. They quickly hit it off and their music skyrocketed, performing at concerts and plays, hosting events and anything else they could get their hands on. That was fifteen years ago. They always bounced off one another really well and everyone told them they should be doing radio. Now, they host the Friday breakfast show as The Gems. Their motto is “you only get one life” and you certainly won’t see them waste theirs! Together, they’ve convinced Kasey Chamber’s dad to spend a weekend performing with them in Tamworth, sung the National Anthem in the middle of the ring at the State Championship Boxing, and they even swam nude in Tassie on the coldest day of the year with 700 other people! There’s nothing they wouldn’t give a red hot go at. Trish and Sam love showing women that life can still begin after their babies grow up and leave the nest, that age is just a number! Most of all, they want people listening to their show to feel inspired to get out there and live as much of their life with fun and happiness. <iframe src="https://omny.fm/shows/the-gems/playlists/podcast/embed?style=cover" width="100%" height="500" frameborder="0" title="The Gems"></iframe>

"The Musik Cube" began in 2010 in the 2-4pm timeslot on a Thursday, followed by the very popular drive program with the great "Tiny G". Soon after the 4-6pm time became available and we have been ensconced there ever since. The show has a couple of aims. First of all, the main goal is to provide entertaining radio to as wide an audience as possible. The second is to provide a platform for local artists, particularly those at the beginning of their career, and figures to promote their wares where otherwise they would not be able to on the radio platform. We have had countless artists and local figures join us both live and on the phone throughout our journey and every single one of them has had an interesting tale to tell and has kept us captivated. We have always understood that 94.7 The Pulse is the heartbeat of the community and provides a voice for the otherwise voiceless in the Geelong and district region. Our show is based around music and this provides the template for us to both entertain and give a voice to the otherwise voiceless. We get continued great pleasure over seeing artists and people who join us go on and progress. We have had some terrific guests over the journey thus far - including established artists and renowned figures such as James Reyne, Diesel, Tim Henwood, Tania Doko, Dave Pace from "Painters & Dockers", Imogen Brough and motor neurone disease legend and Australian Rules football figure Neale Daniher. We have a basic formula for the show. It's two hours of (we think) great tunes that is broken up by a "2 Scoops" (two consecutive songs by the same artist) at about 4.30pm followed by our "4 Sides" (four consecutive songs by the same artist) at the top of the second hour at 5pm. We also do a featured INXS "song of the day" - generally by request - as INXS is a band coveted by the show and the show wouldn't exist without the INXS connection. It gives a lot of pleasure engaging with both the local and international community and the continued feedback we get on the show is very much welcomed. Also, the recognition we received from 94.7 The Pulse in 2012 when we won the award for "Excellence In Music Programming" at the station's annual awards was very humbling and something we treasure. We have in the past and continue to support great local community events and charities - including "Wheel 4 MND", "A Statue For Michael Hutchence", "Encompass Pumpkin Fair", "Geelong's Best Busker", "Geelong's Best Kids Busker" and "Geelong Music Community Collective". We also have become famous around town for photos taken against the green wall in the street out the front of the radio station and in front of the 94.7 The Pulse sign in the studio. Any musicians or other people that would like to get in touch with us about coming onto the show - please do so by contacting "Musik Cube" on Facebook or @TheMusikCube on Twitter or Instagram. We'd love to hear from you.
