You can hear jazz three times a week: Mondays 10pm - midnight, Thursdays 2pm - 3pm and Sundays 2pm - 4pm with a bunch of experienced presenters who love what they do. Many of them are musicians you may have heard around Geelong: others are long-time jazz fans.

Ian Coots

Jazz memories:
Hearing 'Midnight in Moscow' by Kenny Ball. That's what started it all for me! Later, I had the chance to sit in with Acker Bilk's Paramount Jazz Band at Ronnie Scott's 100 club in London and the twenty plus years I spent playing with Owen Yateman were so much fun.

Favourite jazz performers:
I really like "Sticks" Hooper, the original drummer with the Jazz Crusaders. I love the music of Bix Beiderbecke.

Ken Hirst

Earliest jazz memories:
My first memory of jazz was listening to my brother rehearse with the South Coast Stompers, one of the very early Geelong jazz Bands when I was 11 years of age.

Favourite jazz performer:
Benny Goodman and most bands of the swing era and the later American Neo Swing bands like Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Royal Crown Review.

John Thompson

Earliest jazz memories:
Hearing Hoagy Carmichael records on the radio when I was 5. Seeing Papa Celestin's band in the film Cinerama Holiday and hearing Chris. Barber's 'Whistling Rufus' on the B.B.C. that same year, 1955.

Favourite jazz performers:
Trombonist and singer Jack Teagarden and Furry Lewis the country bluesman.

John Barty

John Barty is a support presenter of classical music and jazz programs at The Pulse. He is a classically trained musician who also loves his jazz.

Ross Williamson

Earliest jazz memories:
Enjoying radio jazz shows on the ABC presented by Arch McKirdy, Kym Bonython and Eric Child. Attending a concert in the Melbourne Town Hall featuring the Jacques Loussier Trio doing jazz interpretations of Bach.

Favourite jazz performers:
Pianist Keith Jarrett and the Modern Jazz Quartet.
