DiversitatWhat is Diversitat?


Diversitat, also known as Geelong Ethnic Communities Council , is a community based, not-for-profit organisation providing community services in the Geelong region since 1976. As well as assisting people from a range of cultural backgrounds, we work with some of the most disadvantaged in our broader community.

Diversitat represents 33 cultural communities, employs around 80 people and operates across 7 sites in Geelong with an outreach office in Colac. We aim to promote harmony, cultural diversity, peace and social justice in our society.

Diversitat Immigration, Welfare and Community Services


Through facilitating the settlement of new arrivals in the region, encouraging the integration of migrants in the broader community and providing welfare and family services, Diversitat Immigration, Welfare and Community Services prides itself on the delivery of a number of programs that meet the individual and cultural needs of the Barwon South Western Region’s CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) communities.

Current services include:

  • Settlement Grants Program (SGP) & Welfare
  • Multicultural Mental Health Program
  • Community Development, Planning and Cross Cultural Awareness
  • Family Support Services
  • Financial Counseling / Tenancy Support
  • Problem Gambling

Diversitat Youth Services


Diversitat Youth Services is committed to empowering young people from across the Greater Geelong region.

Through education and training, employment services, mentoring and support, the priority of Diversitat Youth Services is to provide young people with opportunities to pursue their personal and professional goals and interests.

Current services include:

  • Job Network - Youth Specialist Intensive Support

Diversitat Aged Care Services


Through the delivery of services and programs, Diversitat Aged Care Services promotes independence for isolated older people from culturally diverse backgrounds by providing support and socialisation opportunities. Our project workers aim to improve access and equity issues for older CALD community members, and assist and inform aged care service providers to ensure culturally best practice.

Training & Employment Services


Diversitat’s training organisation has established industry relationships that are based on the capacity to deliver cost effective training and the ability to meet the training needs of both the individual and the industry. We also provide quality work experience opportunities for participants to develop confidence and interpersonal skills, providing job seekers with opportunities to actively pursue and achieve sustainable employment.

Diversitat Arts & Events

The Diversitat ARTS - Program produces, develops and supports locally produced arts activity within diverse community settings and brings these activities to mainstream audiences in an innovative, exciting, and contemporary way.

Current projects include:

  • Matchworks Pako Festa
  • FOLK, a series of Sunday concerts at GPAC
  • Activities for Harmony Day and International Refugee Day

Creative Recycling

Diversitat Creative Recycling is a social enterprise committed to recycling clean industrial and commercial waste for use in art and craft projects. A major benefit of the project is the reduction of landfill.

94.7 The Pulse

A community radio station, 94.7 The Pulse’ is committed to providing the local community with timely and accurate information about what is happening in the Geelong region and to supporting local arts, music, theatre and community groups. The Pulse is the only provider in the Geelong region of Radio Broadcast training and The Geelong Media Education Centre is currently being developed at the same site.
